If you finish the entire shop hop, you will have 12 patterns for various projects using 10 inch squares like purses, totes, aprons, table runners and quilts. Won't you be our friend this year? The shop hop is May 31 - June 3. We start selling the bag February 1. |
| Quilting is Murder... Win a Bernette from Quilting is Murder! Quilting Is Murder is sponsoring a Quilt Challenge with Quilting Gallery where we ask participants to save a UFO (unidentified project) from certain death by finishing it up! Here’s the best part: it can be anything mysteriously quilting related *and* you decide if it is “finished” or not when submitted. Visit the Quilting is Murder Challenge page for more information. While you are on the site, be sure to read the mystery and visit the sites of participating shops to gather your clues. It's lots of fun and the prizes are great! It kills me to tell you this, but here is a clue to our clue: It's a good idea for all detectives to keep up on current events by reading our Shop Newsletter. |
| Home is where the Quilt is Every year, the Alliance for American Quilts sponsors a contest. Participants are asked to create a quilt depicting a certain theme and donate them to AAQ. These quilts are later auctioned to raise funds to continue AAQs mission, which is to ensure that this nation's quilt heritage is documented, preserved and widely shared. This year’s contest theme is “Home Is Where the Quilt Is,” a celebration of the form and the meaning of Home. You can use any medium, any technique and any approach--traditional or non--to create a house-shaped quilt. You could win the Grand Prize, a Handi Quilter machine quilting system! | Pinterest What's Pinterest? It's a website that lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes - and share their favorite quilt pictures:-)) Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from other people. I've spent many happy hours perusing those pictures and following links. You can see my pinboard at http://pinterest.com/quiltbugs/ but I don't always repin. To get the best pinboard experience, go to Pinterest and request an invitation. I promise you that it is worth it. |
| Facebook If you have clicked the like button at http://www.facebook.com/Quiltbugcom, you should see the link for our group on the left. Our Facebook fans hear about the latest fabric arrivals, the newest gadgets, and special events first. I often post free patterns and special sales just for them. Did you know that Facebook allows you to group your friends into Lists? If you have certain people or companies you always check, you can put them into a list. There is a video tutorial here: but the basic steps are: - In the left hand column of your Facebook Feed, you should see a category called Lists. Hover over that word with your mouse, and you will see the word MORE light up on the right hand side of that column. Click on it.
- You will come to the Lists page. Click on Create List in the upper right hand corner. This creates an empty list, which you get to name.
- In the upper right hand corner again, click on the Manage Friends drop-down box, then Add/Remove friends. You will get a box that says Friends in the upper left hand corner, and displays pictures of your friends. Click on them to add them to your list and click on Done at the bottom when you are finished
- If you are trying to create a list of companies that you follow, you will have to click on the word Friends in the upper left hand corner to open up the drop-down box. From there you just click on Pages.
Putting someone into a list doesn't mean you will never see their posts on a wall. It just means you can easily check on people. Everyone in your guild might be one list, and all your favorite quilt shops might be another. If this is all too confusing, you can also follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/quiltbug . |
| Until next time, Enjoy! PS - Mention this coupon at the register when you check out Friday or Saturday and get a free gift! I promise you will like it:-)) |
